Each and every activity in our daily life is managed and guided by the brain. Our brain consists of about 100 thousand million nerve cells, in which there are hundreds of thousands of electrical impulses, moving back and forth every millisecond. Although we use the brain everyday, yet it seems that we cannot use our brain fully and completely.
The UT Dallas Institute of BrainHealth is dedicated to understand, heal and protect this amazing organ. It chooses to do so through linking cutting-edge technologies in brain science with the intellectual talent of scientists and clinicians and advancing cognitive treatments and brain repair across diseases. The institute has pioneered a horizontal approach to uncover commonalities in brain disorders. Some of the best researches are taking place in the institute known for its highly efficient team of scientists, who are in the process of finding new breakthroughs in autism, attention deficit disorder, Alzheimer’s and other significant brain issues. The leadership council of the institute’s Board Members comprises of names like Sallie and Frederic Asche, Jr.Claudia and Dennis Berman, Toni and Norman Brinker, Dianne Cash, Theresa and
David Disiere, Patsy Donors, John Harbin, Matrice Ellis-Kirk, among others as its members.
BrainHealth’s horizontal approach is novel and unique because of some aspects like diagnosing and treating children and adults alike in contrast to other approaches which focus on either children or adults. It transfers application across diverse diseases/injuries whereas other approaches concentrate on one disease process. It also provides provide long-term follow up whereas others provide time-limited intervention
